NE-BC Recertification
The Nurse Executive-Board Certified (NE-BC) credential is valid for five years and must be renewed on or before your expiration date. Per ANCC Certification Renewal Requirements, eligibility includes:
- Current certification: Hold a current ANCC NE-BC certification that is eligible for renewal.
- Active RN license: Hold a current, active RN license in a U.S. state or territory, or the professional legally recognized equivalent in another country.
- Mandatory continuing education: Complete 75 continuing education contact hours (CE CH) directly related to the nurse executive role and specialty during your 5-year certification period. At least 60 of the 75 hours must be formally approved continuing education.
- Professional development category: Complete at least one of the eight ANCC renewal categories in its entirety (continuing education, academic credits, presentations, evidence-based practice/quality improvement project, publication or research, preceptor hours, professional service, practice hours, or assessment by examination). Practice hours are optional-if used, a minimum of 1,000 practice hours in the certification specialty is required.
- Renewal fee: Submit your renewal application and pay the renewal fee through your ANCC online account before your certification expires.
